Tour the Conowingo Hydroelectric Station

Join the BMI on Friday, June 26 at 10:00 AM for a tour of the Conowingo Hydroelectric Station, operated by Constellation Energy at the Conowingo Dam. Constellation staff will lead a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility including the station’s turbine hall and fish lifts.
The hydroelectric station has been generating renewable energy for Maryland residents since the construction of the Conowingo Dam across the lower Susquehanna River in 1928. Currently owned and operated by Constellation Energy, the station can produce over 500 megawatts of electricity through the use of 11 turbines. Besides its contributions to energy production and the local economy, the hydroelectric station plays a major role in region’s ecology.
Each household is welcome to register a maximum of two attendees. Registration will open on May 28 at 7:00PM. An email invitation will be sent to all active members when registration opens. The tour is likely to fill up quickly. If the tour is full, email us at mkuethe@thebmi.org to be placed on a waitlist.
