Industry Social Club
May 21 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Industry Social Club steps into spring with new and exciting themes and speakers! Join us on Wednesday, May 21 for a discussion entitled, Our House: The Sound of Baltimore Music.
Industry Social Club is a free, monthly, after-hours program for local professionals, creatives, and influencers in various industries to cultivate connections that drive success. Each month, a blend of interactive exploration, engaging discussions, and workshops designed around a particular topic or industry will be coupled with music by DJ Mister Vershawn, a cash bar by our partners at Stem&Vine, and complimentary snacks provided by Sibs Food Boutique.
Topics examine contemporary trends in industry, both locally and nationally. The series explores industries as diverse as fashion and textiles, hospitality, healthcare, and LGBTQIA+ in the workforce, embracing a diverse spectrum of talents and backgrounds.
Our discussion this month at the BMI will explore Baltimore’s unique sound, otherwise known as Baltimore Club Music or simply, Baltimore Club — a music genre that fuses breakbeat and house. It was created in Baltimore in the early 1990s through the combined skill and talent of several local DJs and musicians. Today, Baltimore Club proliferates our city’s culture and has been celebrated with a declaration of June 17 as Baltimore Club Music Day, declared by Mayor Brandon Scott in 2023.
We’re honored to have the Chief Storyteller for the Mayor’s Office of Innovation, Alanah Nichole Davis, moderate the series. She will be joined by the following panelists;
Meagan “Ducky” Dynamo | DJ, Producer, & Culturalist
Linzy Jackson | Director; Mayor’s Office of Arts, Culture, and Entertainment
Mighty Mark | Producer, DJ, Creative Consultant; Mighty Mark Adventures
