The Baltimore Museum of Industry (BMI) is excited to introduce our new Community Days program entitled “Bienvenidos Al Museo!” Taking place four times a year, beginning in August of 2025, visitors can enhance their BMI experience with free visitation, Spanish interpreted tours, audio tours available in Spanish, and opportunities to connect and engage with Latin community organizations and leaders. This initiative is designed to make our museum more accessible and engaging for Spanish-speaking visitors, fostering a welcoming environment for all.
At BMI, we believe that every form of work has dignity. In line with this principle, we are committed to expanding our community programs to empower visitors through knowledge and celebrate the value of work. Our goal is to share the stories of local workers and neighbors with a broader and more diverse audience.
This program features several new offerings:
Spanish-Interpreted Tours: Enjoy informative in-person tours led by our museum educators, translated into Spanish by an interpreter, which will provide insights into our exhibits and Baltimore’s rich industrial history.
Spanish Audio Tours: Explore the museum at your own pace with our comprehensive audio guides available in Spanish offering detailed narratives about our collections.
Visiting Community Organizations: Engage with local organizations that offer resources and programs for families and workers, fostering connections within the community.
Hands-on Activities: Explore the museum in search of our ‘Please Touch’ signs and Touch Boxes, or build and test a paper rocket.
Relax on Campus: Enjoy our beautiful waterfront campus and free parking. Gather with friends and family to enjoy local fare, explore our outdoor artifacts, take in the city skyline, or watch the sailboats go by.
We invite you to experience the rich history and innovation of Baltimore’s industry through a new lens.

Why have Spanish-speaking community days?
The BMI community is vast; to maintain a sense of community and inclusion, we’re dedicating ourselves to becoming a resource for underserved communities. Baltimore’s work history is steeped in the triumphs of immigration and the hard work of immigrant families.
Why free admission?
We want families and communities to have stress-free access to resources, education, and Baltimore’s rich industrial history. Free admission at the BMI for Bienvenidos Al Museo ensures families can enjoy our museum, relax on our campus, and connect to resources and each other.
I do not speak Spanish. Can I still participate?
The BMI is always open to all, and we invite everyone to participate! Keep in mind that docent tours will be given in English and translated into Spanish via an interpreter.
