Safety and visitor policies

We are prepared to welcome you back. Following CDC guidelines, the museum has created enhanced safety protocols including:

Safety policies

• To reduce the risk of spreading the Coronavirus, we ask that you stay home if you are sick and/or experiencing: runny nose, sneezing, coughing, and/or fever (higher than 38ºC (100.4ºF). Please wait to visit the Museum until you are symptom-free for at least 24 hours.

• Mask use is required. Your mask helps protect those around you, including young museum visitors who are not vaccinated yet.

• All Museum staff will protect themselves and others by wearing face masks.

• Please familiarize yourself with our standard visitor policies to help maintain a safe environment for you and the collections.

• All Museum visitors will enter the Museum through the Main Lobby.

• A Visitor Services Associate will greet you at the Front Desk and scan your digital ticket on your smartphone or your ticket printed at home from your confirmation email.

• Hand sanitizer stations will be available at the Front Desk and throughout the Museum.

• Please do not use spray or aerosol sanitizer anywhere in the Museum.

Visitor policies

General:
• Do not touch the collection items except where noted.

• Eating and drinking are not permitted in the galleries.

• Smoking or vaping is not permitted in the BMI.

• Service animals are welcome in the Museum.

• Please follow any instructions from Security Officers.

Accessibility:
• The BMI is wheelchair accessible. There are handicap parking spaces next to the main entrance along with a ramp from the parking lot to the door. Spaces inside are on ground level or accessible by ramp.

Photography:
• Non-flash photography is allowed in collection galleries for personal, non-commercial use, except where noted.

• Professional photography in the Museum must be approved in advance. For more information and to apply for approval, please contact Rentals@thebmi.org.
