School Field Trips

Each year over 70,000 Maryland school children participate in our hands-on programs and outreach initiatives, interactive tours and exhibits. We offer you and your students a broad range of opportunities designed to:

  • Enhance classroom learning goals and core knowledge
  • Meet statewide performance goals
  • Present multiple interactive learning experiences
  • Inspire future leaders of tomorrow in Math, Technology and the Social Sciences

How to Book a School Field Trip

All reservations are on a first come, first served basis!

To make your booking as easily as possible, please follow these steps:

  1. Have an estimated number of students, teachers, and chaperones that could attend this trip.
  2. Please have three possible dates available when you contact the Education Coordinator…programs fill up quickly!
  3. Choose the program(s) you are interested in. See our brochure for more details.
  4. When you are ready to book your program, complete our booking form below OR contact the Education Coordinator at tours@thebmi.org or 410.727.4808 x117.

Once a date and programs have been scheduled, you will receive a confirmation email with deposit and payment information.

Homeschool Days

The BMI sets aside special days for homeschool families to experience the BMI. Participating children are charged at the rates listed below, caregivers are admitted free of charge.

Homeschool Days with The Walters Art Museum

This school year, the BMI is pleased to offer three homeschool days in partnership with The Walters Art Museum. Join us at the BMI for morning activities; then head over to the Walters for the afternoon!

At the BMI, students will participate in two programs: In the Neighborhood and City Builders (for students K-2nd Grade) & Design It: Balls & Tracks and Inside the Game Studio (for students 3rd-8th Grade). 

Event dates: 

October 19, 2017, 10am-12pm 

November 16, 2017, 10am-12pm 

February 15, 2018, 10am-12pm 

Reserve a space to enjoy your bagged lunch after the morning activities at the BMI before heading to the Walters. 

Cost is $15 total per student. Caregivers attend free.

Pre-registration is required. Please register via this link. Registration begins on August 8. When enrolling, please include your participating student’s name and age.
