Middle School Challenges
The Maryland Engineering Challenges welcomes all students in grades 6 to 8 to participate in our Middle School Challenges.

Students who are interested in joining the 2012 Challenges should review the Middle School Information Sheet as well as the Guide for the individual challenge they are interested in.
Teams that will participate in the 2012 Challenges should have their adult Coach register the team at our online registration site; http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2012MECRegistration After registering teams, Coaches are asked to mail their $5 Coaches fee to BMI prior to the registration deadline.
Future City
- Grades 7 to 8
- Design a city using SimCity software and create a model of one area.

Cargo Airplane
- Grades 6 to 8
- Construct an electric airplane to fly tethered flights with and without cargo.

Hovercraft
- Grades 6 to 8
- Build the fastest hovercraft to travel across the "Chesapeake Bay."

Straw Bridge
- Grades 6 to 8
- Construct a plastic-straw bridge to support a 6.5-lb. truck for one minute.
