Elementary School Challenges
The Maryland Engineering Challenges welcomes all students in grades 1 to 5 to participate in our Elementary School Challenges.

Students who are interested in joining the 2012 Challenges should review the Elementary School Information Sheet as well as the Guide for the individual challenge they are interested in.
Teams that will participate in the 2012 Challenges should have their adult Coach register the team at our online registration site: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2012MECRegistration After registering teams, Coaches are asked to mail their $5 Coaches fee to BMI prior to the registration deadline.
Paper Airplane
- Grades 1 to 5
- Design a paper airplane to safely fly a paperclip "passenger" as far as possible.

Safe Racer
- Grades 2 to 3
- Build a safe and speedy sports car to allow "Eggbert" to survive a crash test and distance trial.

Theme Park
- Grades 4 to 5
- Construct a moving theme park ride based on a literature curriculum reading.
