Have a birthday party that will go down in history!
Celebrate your next birthday at the BMI! Participate in one of our 60 minute programs for ages 5-12. All programs are led by trained museum educators. Following your activity, enjoy your party in a private room.
Choose one of the following hands-on programs:
Paper Dolls Bits, Bolts, and Balance Design It Boats Afloat BMI members receive a 10% discount off the total price! Click here to join!
Using handmade paper, craft your very own paper doll and clothing. Tour the museum's Garment Loft and be inspired by the different fashions that were created in Baltimore Long ago.
Discover artistic balance by creating and designing your own industrial sculpture. See how different parts of machinery work in the BMI's Machine Shop to find your own inspiration. Be sure to take your sculpture home with you!
Test your engineering skills! Working together, partygoers invent, experiment, and observe their work in action. Using simple materials, children will design roller coasters and test them by following the steps an engineer would use. They will use marbles as passengers and pipe insulation as the track. They will tape to boxes, blocks, tables and chairs to create their models. They will experiment to accomplish multiple goals.
Learn the skill of navigation. Using a compass and map, children will explore the museum’s historic waterfront then make a replica of the BMI’s 1906 tugboat to take home. It floats!
Each program includes a mini-tour of museum galleries related to your program, a hands-on craft activity, and use of the museum’s private room for one hour following the program. All children receive a return visit coupon and an activity book to take home.
Guests are responsible for their own refreshments and decorations.
Cost:
$150.00 for up to 15 guests. Additional children and adults are $10.00 each.
Goody bags from the BMI are available for an additional charge of $3.50 per child (optional). For an extra $20.00, rent our Meyerhoff Theatre for your own private film screening.
